AnimeCon was the first international Anime Convention and was held at
the Red Lion Inn in San Jose CA on Labor Day weekend, 1991. The staff
of the original AnimeCon have sinced moved on to do other conventions.

Anime East

Anime East was an annual Anime/Manga Convention, organized by the non-profit
organization, Atlantic Anime Alliance (AaA) (which had previously organized
ChibiCon '93) and is professionally managed by Radium Dynamix.
In order to reflect their commitment to the whole of Asian Pop Culture, Anime
East has changed their name to Far East Expo. (See Far East Expo)

XII. Although the Atlantic Anime Alliance has recently given permission to

ChibiCon Returns to I-Con for the 15th annual I-Con. Permission has been
granted to the Anime Track of I-Con to adopt the ChibiCon name and perpetuate
the legacy which the Atlantic Anime Alliance started and which Anime East
continued. The advantage of going to ChibiCon Returns! is that you get to
attend a great multi-track convention not limited to just anime. See the
section on I-Con later in this document.

State Hayward, Meikeljohn Hal. Tenative Date for 1996 is Spring 1996

Far East Expo

Far East Expo is the successor to Anime East. The name change is to reflect the
fact that Far East Expo is more than just Anime, it is the entire spectrum of
Asian Pop Culture encompassing Anime, Manga, Hong Kong Cinema, Popular music
and arts, and much more!
Last Years GoH at Anime East included Toshio Okada, Horoyuki Kitazume, and MIO.
Far East will continue to be the home of the Tezuka Industry & Fandom Awards.
No date/location/address for Far East Expo has been announced.

I-Con XV
--------

I-Con, one of the largest Science Fiction & Fantasy Media conventions in the
United States, has expanded their Anime related programming tracks. I-Con will
be held April 12-14 1996 at the Stony Brook campus of the State University of
New York. It is located about 1.5 hours away from New York City.
Why is I-CON listed in a Anime/Manga Convention list? Because it is one of the
largest conventions on the East Coast, and the anime track of I-CON draws a
considerable amount of people. Although it is primarily a science fiction,
fact and fantasy convention, expect plenty of guests from anime fandom and the
industry. For more information on the Anime track at ICON, please see

Project A-Kon was the very first National Anime-Based convention, is an annual
event, and has been run for 6 continuous years! Run professionally, by fans
who believe 'professional' doesn't have to mean 'unapproachable' or 'cold'.
Gaining reputation as the best party con around, A-Kon draws folks from other
areas of fandom to make for a HUGE 3-day fannish party with lots to do and lots
of people to meet!

2", and "Ghost in the Shell"

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of Robotech, RoboCon 10 was be held at the
Grand Hotel in Anaheim, CA October 6-8, 1995
Although another All-Robotech Convention is *not* planned, the organizers are
interested in doing other general SF conventions with Anime/Robotech
programming & Guests.
